The La Plata River (Silver River) is the longest river in Puerto Rico; snaking south for 60 miles from its headwaters in
the mountains of Cayey, it forms three reservoirs Carite, Comerio and La Plata the largest of the three it is used for
recreation and a source of drinking water, the river finally reaches the sea near the north coast town of Dorado.
